Microbiology/Molecular Lab Manager I
LabCorp is seeking a Lab Manager I to join our team in Birmingham, AL!
The ideal candidate will oversee the daily operation of the clinical microbiology and molecular laboratories with an emphasis on quality assurance, operations, human resources management, leadership and interpretive skills to provided quality laboratory results.
Manage a staff of over 65 employees, including scheduling, work assignments, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, etc.
Directs, plans and manages assigned section(s) in alignment with the department and laboratory goals.
Organizes and coordinates services provided, oversees operations, and manages staff and budget in accordance with laboratory's policies and procedures.
Responsible for strategic development in coordination with the Technical Director: develops staff to meet new and existing needs.
Coordinates installation of new equipment and test validation.
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the leadership standards and core values of the lab.
Interacts with clients and clinicians in response to inquiries.
Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results.
Ensures that patient's results are not reported until all corrective action has been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
Notifies clinician when test results will be delayed. Follows all safety policies including but not limited to general safety, hazardous communication, Chemical Hygiene Plan and Blood Borne Pathogens.
Adheres to professional ethical standards. Maintains verifiable records at an institution or facility that has a published records retention policy that is equal to or exceeds the retention required by federal, tribal and/or state regulations
Maintains the confidentiality of any information received from any person or source about a client/patient.
Adheres to regulatory standards.
Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university or have graduated from a Medical Technology School approved by a recognized accrediting organization. Must meet CLIA requirements
ASCP certification required
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of supervisory experience in Clinical Microbiology. Manager level experience in Microbiology preferred
Microbiology and infectious diseases background required
Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m.
