NorDx is seeking a Lead Histotechnologist in Scarborough. The Lead Histotechnologist assumes a lead role in directing the flow of work on the shift, performs technical procedures that result in the creation of microscopic slide preparations to include, but not limited to, specimen collection triage, specimen processing, microtomy techniques, routine and special staining, and special specimen preparation (EM, cell blocks, etc.). This position is responsible for evaluating, preparing and maintaining these procedures to ensure timely and consistent work output in the lab. S/he functions as a team leader in a constantly changing environment.
Knowledge of histology laboratory functions, practices and procedures acquired through an Associate or Baccalaureate degree in Histotechnology or an equivalent science and appropriate histologic technical training.
An in-depth knowledge of laboratory operations and personnel management acquired through two-three years of progressive histology experience.
Certification as a histotechnician or histotechnologist by a recognized professional organization (e.g., ASCP).
Knowledge of spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel) and word processing software (e.g. Word) and ability to work efficiently with a variety of laboratory computer systems.
Able to organize and prioritize assigned work, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks as required, working well under stressful conditions.
Able to resolve problems in a timely and professional manner.
Must be able to work any shift, holiday and/or weekend as needed.
Must be able to travel among company sites as needed.
