Assists Pathologist with specimen gross examination
Embeds and cuts surgical tissues.
Cuts frozen sections.
Operates tissue processor.
Performs routine and special stains.
Ensures quality of processing and staining by performing proper quality control slides and instrument maintenance checks.
Trains new employees and students.
Ensures proper storage and disposal of blocks, slides, and tissue specimens.
Demonstrates situational leadership, provides detailed technical support to staff and assists department supervisor as needed.
Associate's/Bachelor’s Degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences required.
Maintains professional standards by participating in in-services, Tech Samples, etc.
Must be an ASCP registered or “registry eligible” HTL. “Registry eligible” employees must be registered within 12 months of employment.
Minimum 1 year laboratory experience in the Histology Laboratory preferred.
