In this Laboratory Supervisor role you will ensure the smooth flow of Histology section operations by directing the work of laboratory staff. Develop, modify, implement and evaluate operational processes for Histology. Assign and change priorities within the work unit as needed. Act as a resource to staff for daily operational needs.
Recruit, hire, train, discipline and supervise staff including completion of performance evaluations and competency assessments.
Maintain and updates staff procedure manuals, staff training programs and quality assurance programs.
Assist manager with budget development and management. Assure cost-effective daily operations and allocation of section resources to optimize available staff and equipment with demand for service.
Maintain technical understanding of Histology's analytical processes.
Ensure compliance with state, federal and regulatory agency requirements for facilities, equipment, processes and staff. Ensure a safe working environment for staff and patients.
Act as a contributing member of laboratory team as needed to facilitate delivery of services.
Participate as a contributing member of Histology's department and VM-wide management team
Participate in quality improvement projects focused on achievement of annual goals and lean initiatives; ensuring implementation of and adherence to improvement changes.

Requires a Bachelor's degree and certification in a laboratory field or equivalent plus three years' increasingly responsible laboratory operations experience.
Certification, Registration, or Licensure in Medical Technology, or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize the demands of daily operations and organize resources.
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, active listening skills and conflict mediation ability.
