Sr Histologist - Molecular Probe Laboratory - 1st Shift, FT
Are you interested in joining a leading health care organization? We are seeking a dynamic Histotechnologist who exemplifies professionalism to join our Pathology Team.
The Anatomic Pathology Lab, at Rush University Medical Center, processes approximately 25,000 samples per year.
The Histo technologist works closely with our Pathologists to prepare materials which are crucial to disease diagnosis.
This position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of specimen types, from our active surgery, hematology, and dermatology services.
Embeds and cuts tissue sections, prepares, stains, and labels slides according to established procedures.
Performs special stains on bone marrow aspirates.
Performs routine equipment maintenance, QC procedures, preparation of reagents, and basic troubleshooting of problems.
Participates in special projects and procedures, completes them within an agreed time frame.
Position Qualifications Include:
Associate of Science degree in relevant science required.
Current professional laboratory certification or certification eligible from nationally recognized certifying agency, HT (ASCP) or HTL(ASCP).
Previous laboratory experience preferred.
Ability to work in fast pace environment required.
Ability to lift a minimum of 10 lbs. and perform repetitive motions.
Must be able to effectively interact with peers, internal and external customers
