SEPA Labs is currently seeking a qualified Histology Technician for our Brunswick, Georgia location for night shift. The histology technician will prepare histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by a pathologist. The candidate needs to possess a broad knowledge of the technical aspects of histology including but not limited to section cutting, embedding, frozen section, and special staining. Embedding - Embeds a minimum of 50 large or 30 small or multiple blocks per hour of embedding time, sections a minimum of 35 blocks per hour.
Microtomy - Persistent sectioning at 4-5 microns, with artifact free sections.
- Recuts on request, to produce additional slides or "levels" performed without loss of tissue or compromise of specimen.
Staining - Follows all routine H&E and special staining protocols.
- Produces satisfactory positive and negative control slides for each test performed.
Clerical - Slides correctly labeled and initialed with information accurately transferred to slides.
- Performs QC/QA documentation as required.
- Help file slides and blocks.
Education & Training - High school diploma or GED
- HT (ASCP) or equivalent experience and training
- At least 1 year of experience.
Physical Requirements - Occasional walking, standing, bending and reaching when filing, photocopying, etc.
- Light lifting of under 50 pounds on an infrequent basis.
