Position Information:
The Histology Technician II assists the pathologists in preparing tissue specimens for pathological diagnosis by documenting the accession of specimens, preparing the tissue for gross examination and description, processing tissue blocks to provide slides of tissue for microscopic evaluation. Processes frozen sections, biopsies, and bone marrow biopsies and performs special stains as needed. Files tissue blocks and slides for reference and participates in training of personnel unfamiliar with any aspect histological technique andtheory. Prepares specimens for consultations and reference work. Performs routine maintenance and quality control on all laboratory equipment and assists in trouble-shooting problems which may arise with technical equipment or procedures.

Education Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required - Or Equivalent Experience Or Certificate Histology Required - And Associate's Degree Science Preferred
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
