Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full Time Histology Technologist for our Atlantic Consolidated Lab in Morris Plains to work 4pm - 12am five days per week and every other weekend.
The Histotechnologist position is responsible for processing all specimens received in the Histology laboratory under minimal supervision.
This position requires independent judgment in processing tissue specimens and in solving routine problems.
Abilities should include:
Preparing thin slices of human, animal, or plant tissue on slides for analysis by:
Examining, fixing, and processing the tissue for proper sample preservation
Surrounding the tissue with paraffin wax in a process called embedding
Cutting a tissue sample with a microtome or cryostat
Mounting the tissue sample on a slide
Staining or dying the sample to emphasize abnormalities
Testing tissue according to what the pathologist needs
As needed, management of supplies and laboratory quality-control procedures
Associates degree, BS preferred
Certified HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) preferred
1-3 years clinical experience in a Histopathology Laboratory
