The role you’ll contribute: Performance of technical assistance and clerical functions in the Pathology / Histology Department
The value you’ll bring to the team
- Provides clerical and technical support functions for the Pathology Department.
- Utilizes LIS system for all patient registration, specimen receipt, accessioning, processing, case inventory, billing, and documentation functions.
- Transports and handles specimens from various hospital and outreach locations; ensures accuracy of label, order, and specimen type before acceptance of specimen; resolves discrepancies before accessioning.
- Processes requests submitted to the Pathology department in a timely, accurate, and professional manner; serves as contact person for phone inquiries and requests.
- Processes slides and blocks selected for send outs and consultations; follows protocols to ensure timely return of all send out materials.
- Performs slide cover slipping, slide labeling, and other support functions for Histology operations.
Qualifications The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of experience in Clinical Laboratory or Anatomic Pathology in a clerical and/or technical assistant role (phlebotomist, lab assistant, pathology assistant) required.
